国家海洋食品质量监督检验中心经国家认证认可监督管理委员会认证授权，是具有第三方公正地位的法定专业质量监督检验机构，是社会公益性的非营利事业单位，为质检系统内第一家授权的集海洋食品检验、标准制定、质量仲裁和安全评价为一体的国家级海洋食品监督检验中心。中心实验室3000平方米，实验装备先进，拥有三重四极液质联用仪(Waters)，气质联用仪(Aglient)、液相色谱－电感耦合等离子色谱仪（PE）、氨基酸自动分析仪（日立）、荧光光谱仪（日立）、气相色谱仪（Agilent）、高效液相色谱(Waters 、Aglient)、气相色谱仪(Varian)、离子色谱仪(戴安)、脂肪快速测定仪（FOSS）、全自动致病菌快速检测仪（梅里埃）等一大批高端检测设备，设备原值达到1500多万元。中心技术力量雄厚，拥有一支以博、硕士生为技术带头人的专业技术人才队伍，其中中级职称以上技术人员占60％以上。
中心严格按ISO/IEC 17025要求建立质量管理体系，通过中国合格评定国家认可委员会认可（CNAS）和国际互认（ilac-MRA）以及国家认监委的计量认证(CMA)和审查认可(CAL)的产品192项、项目（参数）277项；通过省级计量认证、审查认可产品333项，参数312项。
中心承担各级政府部门的监督抽查、食品生产许可证发证检验、委托检验、仲裁检验、突发性安全事件应急检验等工作；承担浙江省海洋科技创新服务平台海洋公共实验室建设；并积极开展海洋食品及相关产品的技术研究和风险评估，参与推动海洋食品质量安全标准体系建设及相关的政策法规建设，制定并实施海洋食品污染物监控计划，为国内海洋食品领域提供一流的技术支撑作用。近年来，承担省、市级科研项目十余项，国家、地方标准5项。2006年被评为浙江省质监系统“十佳示范实验室”。
National Marine Food Quality Supervision and Testing Center is authorized by Certification and Accreditation Administration of People’s Republic of China, and the center is an impartial third party, which is a legal and specialist agency, as well as a non-profit institute. The center is the first authorized supervision and inspection center of national marine food, capable of marine food inspection, standard setting, quality arbitration, safety assessment. The laboratory area of the center covers three thousand square meters, and it’s equipped with advanced equipments of original value totaling fifteen million renminbi, such as liquid chromatograph-mass spectrometer,gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer, liquid chromatography-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer, automatic amino acid analyzer, fluorescence spectroscopy, gas chromatograph (Agilent), high performance liquid chromatograph, gas chromatograph(Varian), chromatograph, rapid fat analyzer, automatic rapid detector of pathogens, etc. The center has highly professional team lead by doctors and masters with 60% of professionals acquiring middle-level academic title and above.
